Hello and Welcome
Come on in and browse around. Whether
you're looking for information or inspiration, something to make you laugh or
something to awaken a new vision for the church, you can find it here.
Someone said, "Faith is a journey, not a destination." That sure
speaks to my experience. Each step of my life has taken me into new territory,
with new challenges, new questions, new lessons to learn, and new doubts to
keep me pressing forward for deeper insights. To me, a church is a place where
we travelers can gather, share the breathtaking views we have found and the
resources we have discovered, find new traveling companions, tend each other's
wounds and aching muscles, celebrate each other's victories, and encourage each
other onward. Faith and love grow naturally when we trust each other and trust
our own questions, are honest and with each other and with God, and humbly
acknowledge our need for God, even though God is always beyond our smug
understanding.
I believe that playfulness and creativity are natural outgrowths of healthy
spirituality, because the essence of faith is trust. When we trust God's
abundant grace, we have the freedom to take risks, explore, and experiment with
new expressions of our spirit. I love being the pastor of the Henrietta United
Church of Christ, because it is a place where people are real, and therefore
the Christ we experience together is real. I'm not one for empty rituals or
phony religious language, and I hate worship that's boring and
repetitious. At Henrietta UCC, we try to create worship experiences that help us open
to God’s life-giving Spirit in ways that are engaging and meaningful.
I hope that you find lots of things on this website that interest you. Visit it
