MINISTRIES AND GROUPS
PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN AND YOUTH Kids’ Kamp Children’s Choir develops faith and self confidence through inspirational songs. Kids Chiming In hand chime choir meets before worship the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month. Summer Vacation Bible School provides a week of music, crafts, stories, and games on a biblical theme. Youth Group for youth grades 7-12 meets for fun, service activities, and spiritual growth. Boy Scout Troop 153 has been sponsored by our church since 1930. It meets at the church on Wednesdays from 7:00-8:30 p.m. Dunkirk Church Camp southeast of Buffalo provides wonderful summer camp experiences for third graders through adults and families too. OTHER MUSIC GROUPS Senior Choir rehearses Sundays at 9:00 a.m. Hand Bell Choir rehearses Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. “Seventh Day” Worship Band plays contemporary Christian music. SPIRITUAL GROWTH GROUPS Bible Study is led by Enid Zollweg and meets at 2:00 PM Mondays. Participants explore how the scriptures are speaking to them. Sunday Evening Spiritual Growth Group is led by Rev. Alan Dailey and meets at Riga UCC, for members and friends of both churches. Metanoians Group (which means “beyond the mind”) meets at noon alternating Tuesdays and Wednesdays to explore in depth the frontiers of spiritual growth. Living in Harmony in God’s World group meets on the third Tuesday of the month to support our growth in environmental awareness. FELLOWSHIP AND SUPPORT GROUPS Church Family Fellowship plans fun fellowship activities for various age groups on a monthly basis. Parents and Grandparents of Children with Special Needs meets after worship monthly to share support, encouragement and resources. “Bookworms” Book Club meets monthly to discuss books of common interest. “Brunch Bunch” is an informal, open group that meets for fellowship after worship at Peppermint’s Restaurant. Women's Guilds meet monthly for fellowship, study, inspiration, and support. Elizabeth Guild meets the last Monday of the month. Dorcas Guild meets the first Tuesday. MOMS Club West meets here the third Wednesday of the month to provide fellowship, learning and support for full-time mothers. REACHING OUT IN CHRIST’S LOVE Our Prayer Chain (both phone and e-mail) offers prayers for people both in and outside our church family. Rush-Henrietta Area Food Terminal is operated by volunteers this and other churches. Call the Barb or Mel Witmer at 334-3141 to volunteer. FISH (Friends in Service Here) provides necessary transportation for our community’s elderly. Call the Witmers at 334-3141 to volunteer. Woodcrest Commons Adult Care Facility has Sunday afternoon worship services, which we provide on a monthly basis. A Habitat for Humanity house is being built by HUCC and other churches. Cameron Community Ministries provides clothing, meals, tutoring, and job readiness to people in Northwest Rochester. Clothing donations may be placed in the box at the back of the sanctuary. Alcoholics Anonymous meets downstairs at 7:00 p.m. Fridays. Al-Anon, for family members of alcoholics, meets at 7:00 p.m. Fridays in the Lounge. RESOURCES FOR LEARNING AND GROWTH Our Church Library has a variety of books for all ages. GVA Wellspring, our Association’s resource library, is housed here.
